Captivated by the Present Moment
We're always present for something; our awareness is always on.
Our Soul needs the time to be drawn by the pull of what we truly love. We need to allow ourselves space to be instinctually mesmerized without rhyme or reason. But all too often, we don't allow it. We don't give ourselves enough spaciousness so our hearts can be captivated by beauty. And then, we complain about our inability to be present without asking ourselves if what we're trying to be present for is actually worth our attention.
We're always present for something; our awareness is always on. But so much of the time, our awareness is fixed on nonsense. It's wrapped up in past hurts, future anxiety, shame or blame, or perhaps invested in an empty, insipid dopamine hunt.
Trying to force ourselves to be present to the insipid destroys our natural joy that is a hallmark of being in the here and now. Asking our natural wisdom and intelligence to shut down so we can focus on something totally dumb in a hunt for productivity, or worse, is no way to create intimacy with life.
When do we allow ourselves the opportunity to be captivated? When do we ever follow the natural flow of our presence? When do we answer the call?
Can we clear our calendars long enough to let ourselves wander freely? Can we remain open to the possibility that the world might reveal itself to us in a way that enraptures our senses and invites us into a place of vibrant reality?
