Confidence, Experience, Inquiry
There's a difference between confidence and swagger. I heard Alex Hormozi say that confidence is how certain you can be that what you think is going to happen is going to happen. It's not a personality trait or a posturing.
For example, I'm very confident in my ability to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. There has never been a time that I've set out to make a PB&J and ended up with lasagne instead. I've got lots of experience making sandwiches, and it's never accidentally gone cassarole on me.
I'm also confident that the very intense parts of my psychedelic experiences will be temporary, for better or worse. There are some experiences I'd love to hold onto forever, and others I can't wait to end. I know that I'll probably have strange thoughts and wild emotions, and they might be hard to deal with. B ut as long as I stay close to my practices and integration principles, I'll return to center sooner rather than later, and have some material that I can use to help me grow. Honestly, it wasn't always like that. There were times I've been a little worried! But, experiences make us experienced! And some community integration doesn't hurt either. It puts it all in perspective.
It's good for us to gain confidence in how our minds work. It's good to gain a greater understanding of the good, the bad, and the ugly. I know that if I take the kid to toddler group and I'm the only dad in a circle of moms, I'm going to be self-conscious, even if I know most of them and they're perfectly nice. I'm confident that if we're shopping for Legos, I'm going to overspend. I'm on the path of self-knowledge, for sure!
My confidence comes from experience. And my experience comes from making mistakes. Lots and lots of mistakes. I invite you to imagine how many mistakes. Nope, sorry, wrong. More than that. Many more.
I had a teacher who would say, "If you don't fall over in your arm balances, you aren't trying hard enough."
And even though I'm still fumbling balls regularly, I'm starting to get the hang of some stuff. After all these years, I think I'm beginning to become a decent coach. I even get to help other people become better coaches. I get to tell them to take it easy and be relaxed in their practice. I want people to know that their skills will grow over time, with practice.
Trevor hall suggests, "You can't rush your healing."
There is an old yoga aphorism, "With practice, all is coming."
Don't rush, don't panic, just practice.
Fractal Inquiry Starts Thursday
Fractal Inquiry is a place to gain confidence in your coaching.
If you're looking to gain confidence in your coaching, this course is for you.
The Fractal Inquiry frameworks give you insight into how our minds work. This means you will be able to converse with your client with ease, understanding the various ways you can guide the session.
If you'd like tools to move through coaching calls with ease, this course is for you.
Fractal Inquiry is a deep dive into the art of asking good questions. In it, you are offered lenses through which to understand the client’s experience and mind, which enables you to intuit questions that raise awareness in the present time. A collection of time-tested tools that you can practice with your clients in order to take both of you deeper into curiosity and discovery.
We also practice some self-inquiry. We need time to practice looking at ourselves. We need to break the habit of avoiding ourselves by fixing others. We need to be willing to look closer at the subtle agendas that have insinuated themselves into our practice. The more we’re willing to be impartial and judgmental with ourselves, the more readily we can offer it to our clients. We’ll get out of our own way.
So now we meet all of the Thursdays in May, May 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th at 5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern
We'll cover:
See how asking the right questions can lead to closing more sales.
Know what to do after your client tells you “where they feel it in their body”
Understand common mistakes coaches make in their inquiry
And of course, we'll discuss a little parts work as mentioned above!
As a bonus, you'll receive:
Tam’s Integration Journaling Prompts - the same questions that guide us in supporting our clients as they process their psychedelic experiences.
Twice Weekly Group Meditations - take the opportunity to sit with us!
Ongoing Q&A with Daniel - Daniel answers your questions posed in the community space.
If you're thinking about joining our year-long psychedelic integration coaching training, this is a great way to explore what it means to be a psychedelic integration coach and what it's like to learn with us!
