Intergenerational Sound Healing and Maintaining our Integration Practice
Dust off your Magic one more time, make it shine
Dust off your integration one more time, make it shine
The boy jumped in bed at 630 this morning. He curled up under the covers and didn’t say anything. I rubbed his back for a moment and then sat up, taking the opportunity to meditate. I like when we get a chance to sit quietly together, it doesn’t happen much. He’s energetic.
The nervous system experts love to talk about co-regulation. About how vibing together is a great practice. That’s how the morning started, just vibing and breathing. How fortunate, it’s usually more chaotic.
Then he popped up and said, “I want to play that game again, where you hit the silver thing on the black thing.”
What?
He said it again, like I’m dumb, “the game where you hit the silver thing on the black thing!”
“Was this on my phone?”
“No, we did it downstairs. I lay down and you hit the silver thing on the black thing and then you put the silver thing on my body.”
“Oh, the tuning forks! Yeah, man, we can do tuning forks.”
I’ve had the tuning forks since before he was born. I picked them up at a Marma Therapy training with Dr. Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in maybe 2018. We played with them a lot when we first got them. They’ve been floating around the house, largely ignored, for years. Sad, really, cause they’re great.
The kids found them yesterday, and they both got sound healing treatments. It was a blast. And they want more. How awesome.
Our integrative practices wax and wane. Shiny tools and toys get rusty and dusty. Things that seem important fall by the wayside. We take the sacred for granted. We put our healing in a drawer to be forgotten. Wisdom that has been hard won and passed down at great personal cost sometimes ends with us.
Sometimes, if we’re lucky, if we’re very lucky, we get an opportunity to pick it back up. And I’d love to give you some homework for today. Because I’m sure you have something like my tuning forks in your home. I’m sure you have some sacred wisdom stashed away in your attic or basement what I’d like you to do is dust it off and make it shine. Share it with a loved one get the energy moving again.
That’s all for today. Sending love and vibrations.
The Golden Road
The Golden Road has evolved into a wonderful group of practitioners. The wonderful people who show up share not only their journeys, but the journeys of those they steward. It’s become a place of learning, support, accountability, and peer review. Folks are learning some things from me, but they are also learning from each other. We all face unique challenges as we work in this space, and it’s great to have a place where we can bring them for non-judgmental feedback and reflection. You’re invited. Click here to join!
